History

In 1883 the municipality was created when it separated from Gebenstorf.

Geography

Turgi has an area, , of . Of this area, 17.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 35.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 42.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (3.9%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes).
