Thiers est une commune française, située dans le département du Puy-de-Dôme en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes adhérente du parc naturel régional Livradois-Forez. Elle est l'une des quatre sous-préfectures du département avec Ambert, Issoire et Riom. Les habitants sont appelés les Thiernois, voire également les « Bitords ».
