Overview

Dale is a town in Carter Township, Spencer County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,544 at the 2020 census.

History & geography

History

Dale was originally called Elizabeth, and under the latter name was laid out in 1843. When a post office was established, the name was changed to Dale, in honor of Robert Dale Owen of New Harmony, the town's congressman at the time.
