Overview
Trapani is a coastal city and comune (municipality) in the western part of the autonomous island region of Sicily in Italy, located on a crescent-shaped peninsula between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of the Province of Trapani, it has long been associated with the historic salt trade and has increasingly developed as a destination for tourism. With a population of 54,636, it is the 11th-largest city in Sicily.
