Forbes' annual list moves a bit each year, but the same handful of financial and tech capitals keep clustering the world's billionaires.
There are around 2,800 billionaires on Earth, and roughly a quarter of them call just eight cities home. Their addresses say a lot about where global capital, real estate and political access still concentrate.

Bayern, Germany
Frankfurt anchors German private wealth, hosts the European Central Bank and is the main continental banking hub. Its billionaire count — including the Quandt-BMW family and the Schwarz retail dynasty in the wider region — punches well above the city's modest size of roughly 750,000 residents.
The Westend and Sachsenhausen neighbourhoods, and the lakeside towns of Königstein and Kronberg in the Taunus hills, hold most of the wealth.
Singapore, Singapore · pop. 5,535,002
Singapore has quietly become Asia's billionaire haven of choice, especially as family offices migrate from Hong Kong. The Monetary Authority of Singapore counts over 1,400 single-family offices in the city, a roughly 6x increase from 2020.
Singapore's mix of tax incentives, political stability and AAA credit rating has made it a magnet for Chinese, Southeast Asian and increasingly Middle Eastern wealth.
Maharashtra, India · pop. 12,442,373
Mumbai's billionaire count keeps climbing as Indian fortunes in tech, telecom, pharma and family conglomerates grow. The Reliance and Tata families are anchored here, and addresses like Altamount Road are now among the most expensive residential real estate per square foot anywhere in the world.
The Hurun India Rich List records India as one of the two fastest-growing sources of new billionaires globally (alongside China).
England, United Kingdom · pop. 8,908,083
London has long been a magnet for non-domiciled billionaires from across the Middle East, Russia, South Asia and Africa, thanks to its 'non-dom' tax regime, English-language legal system and access to Premier League ownership. The Sunday Times Rich List and Forbes both rank it consistently among the top five global billionaire cities.
The UK government's planned abolition of the non-dom tax status from 2025 is expected to push some of those residents to lower-tax jurisdictions like Milan, Dubai or Monaco.
Beijing, China · pop. 21,893,095
Beijing's tech, real estate and state-linked fortunes have made it one of the fastest-growing billionaire cities of the past decade. The Hurun China Rich List records the city neck-and-neck with Shanghai for the country's largest concentration of billion-dollar fortunes.
The regulatory crackdowns on the platform-economy sector since 2021 have wiped out tens of billions of paper wealth, but the city's overall ranking has remained close to the top.
Moscow, Russia · pop. 13,274,285
Sanctions following 2022 have reshaped the list, with many Russian billionaires losing assets or formally relocating, but Moscow still hosts more billionaires than almost any other European capital per Forbes — primarily in energy, metals and banking.
The Rublyovka highway corridor west of Moscow remains the densest concentration of oligarch real estate in the world.
Hong Kong, China · pop. 7,534,200
Hong Kong's billionaires are clustered around property (the Li, Kwok and Lee dynasties), finance and Greater Bay Area manufacturing fortunes. The Hurun Global Rich List counted over 70 billionaires in the territory in its most recent edition.
Political changes since 2020 have driven a meaningful migration of family offices to Singapore, but Hong Kong's property base means the largest fortunes remain rooted in the city. See also our most expensive cities list.
New York, United States · pop. 8,478,072
New York consistently tops Forbes' annual billionaire-city rankings, with roughly 110+ billionaires as of 2025. Wall Street, real estate dynasties, hedge funds, and the world's largest art market all anchor the city's wealth concentration.
The densest billionaire address in the world is reputedly 220 Central Park South, where multiple ten-figure-net-worth residents share a single high-rise. The Upper East Side, Tribeca and Hampton's-adjacent towns absorb most of the rest. See also our most expensive cities list.
How we chose these
We used Forbes' annual World's Billionaires list cross-checked against the Hurun Global Rich List and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Forbes assigns each billionaire to a primary residence city, which is the basis for the ranking; Hurun and Bloomberg do similar attribution but disagree at the margins. Cities consistently in the global top ten across all three lists are included here. Ranking shifts slightly each year, especially as sanctions, tax changes and individual fortunes move.
