Recognized by the United States Census Bureau and the United States Geological Survey as a census-designated place, Calverton is part of the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. It is located between Beltsville and Silver Spring, with nearby area including Laurel, Hillandale, and Adelphi. The Prince George's County side of Calverton (postal code 20705) is considered a neighborhood of Beltsville, while the Montgomery County side (postal code 20904) is associated with Silver Spring.
